Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine #9 Nude in Private – Review
I have finally found the perfect nude lipstick *dances happily*
If you follow me on Instagram @8thdaybeauty *cough* follow me *cough* you would have seen my post about this beauty last week. I have been searching for a nude lipstick that would compliment my skin tone for a long looong time. I’m pretty fair skinned, but my lips are also very pigmented so nude lipsticks tend to make me look washed out and sick. Most nude lipsticks are too light for me or too dark. But the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine – # 9 Nude In Private is the perfect colour. Perfect, I tell you!
According to the website:
Introducing Rouge Volupté Shine. Give in to the temptation of dazzling color. Succumb to a unique sensorial experience with extreme comfort and luminous shine. Hyaluronic acid microspheres help seal in moisture for 8 hours of hydration. Anti-oxidants and emollients help condition and soften lips.
The Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine line by YSL isn’t a new lipstick line but over the years they have continued to create more and more shades because the lipsticks have only continued to grow in popularity.
The shade # 9 Nude In Private is a nude lipstick that has a slight dusky pink undertone that comes across very flirty and feminine but also sophisticated. It has a rich and creamy texture that leaves the lips looking slightly glossy and even plump.
My review/ experience
My lips get dry very easily and it also has a lot of lines so it’s always been a challenge for me to find nude lipsticks, and lipsticks in general, that don’t accentuate my fine lines or dry out my lips. The formula for this lipstick is fantastic because it leaves your lips moisturized while looking and feeling smooth. The product fills in the lines on my lips and makes them look plumper without looking like I put too much on. One swipe gives me a rich opaque colour, so I never feel the need to apply more than one or two layers. It has a semi-glossy finish and the colour lasts for about 4 hours before it starts to fade away, which is normal wear time for a lipstick that doesn’t claim to be long wearing. It also has a very light and pleasant fruity scent 🙂 Kind of like peaches, yummmm.
❅Not the most long lasting lipstick (but it also doesn’t claim to be long lasting)
❅Kind of pricey – It sells for $39 CAD at Sephora
I don’t know how I forgot to mention this, but the packaging is too die for. The lipstick is housed in a gold metal tube that feels and looks very luxurious. Plus, you can see the colour of the lipstick through the caged YSL window in the middle of the tube.
Also, the colour of the actual lipstick is closer to the picture at the beginning of this post. The second picture of the lipstick was taken by the window where the light made the lipstick photograph lighter than it actually is.
If you are looking for a high end lipstick and don’t mind spending over $40 for it then I definitely recommend this lipstick. It’s creamy, moisturizing and it feels very luxurious on the lips. So if you’ve been looking for a great nude, give this one a go!
