Makeup for Instagram / Selfie’s
I’m just going to say it. We all want to look good in our Instagram selfie’s, Facebook pics, Twitter posts, you name it. I mean, who doesn’t right? So today I’m going to share my top tips on how to achieve a picture perfect face.
This particular look features a neutral eye and a bright lip but feel free to use any eyeshadow/lip combo you feel like rocking. Look out for my ☆☆☆4 top tips☆☆☆ and also a full list of the products I used can be found at the end of the post. Let’s get started!
Step 1 ♥ Primer & foundation & Eyebrows
Use your choice of primer & foundation & brow product before moving on to eyes. I didn’t do anything fancy so I didn’t take a pic of this step.
Step 2 ♥ All Over Eyeshadow
Use an eyeshadow brush to pat and gently sweep the 4th shadow on the first row all over your eyelids.
Step 3 ♥ Crease Eyeshadow
Use a rounded brush and gently push and DRAG the darker eyeshadow along your eyelid crease and in towards your nose to give your eyes more depth and dimension.
Step 4 ♥ Inner-eye Eyeshadow
☆☆☆Top tip 1/4☆☆☆ Dust a shimmery white or beige shadow along the inner half of your lower lash line. This is a fantastic way to brighten and liven up your eyes as well as make you look more awake and youthful.
Step 5 ♥ Eyeliner
Line your eyes and flick out the ends to create a dramatic wing.
Step 6 ♥ Lashes
Apply a few coats of your favorite mascara. Or, if you’re like me and your lashes are non-existent, opt for some falsies instead. When I was a toddler my eye lashes were so long they would constantly get into my eyes and cause me major irritation. Because of this my aunt decided that it would be best to cut them shorter.. They never grew back to their full length and now the struggle is real. *Wails*
Step 7 ♥ Contour
First: Use a concealer that is a shade lighter than your skin tone and apply it in a triangular shape underneath your eyes. ☆☆☆Top tip 2/4☆☆☆ Blend it out by patting the product across your cheek starting from the sides of your nose and up your cheekbones to make your face look lifted and give you that Kim Kardashian look.
Second: Take some bronzer and drag it under the hollows of you cheeks and up towards your ear.
☆☆☆Top tip 3/4☆☆☆ if you have pale skin use a taupe coloured eyeshadow (or bronzer if you have one) instead of a golden bronzer. The taupe color will work better with your skin and will give the effect of a shadow as opposed to looking like you’ve used makeup to chisel out your face.
Step 8 ♥ DAT GLOW
Taking pictures with your phone usually has the effect of mattefying your face. But, hello, I still wanna look like I’m glowing. Soo to ensure that you still have dat Jlo glo, you need some shimmer. ☆☆☆Top tip 4/4☆☆☆ if you aren’t planning on using flash to take your pictures apply some highlighter along the top of your nose, cheekbones, cupids bow and chin to give your face the perfect amount of glow without looking oily.
Step 9 ♥ Blush
Apply some blush to the apple’s of your cheeks and sweep it up your cheekbones. Keep in mind that if you want your blush to show in pictures, you will have to go a bit heavier on the application.
Step 10 ♥ Lips
Use a bright and flirty colour for your lips. It’s super easy for red to look sloppy on the lips, so if you’re going for a red then use a lip brush dipped in the lipstick to line your lips first BEFORE applying the colour straight from the tube to ensure a cleaner outcome.
