How to Use Blush – 3 Ways

How to use blush

I get a lot of questions about ‘the correct way to use blush,’ and to be honest there isn’t a right or wrong way to wear it. Instead, it all depends on what look you want to achieve. So today I’m going to share my three favourite ways to get my blush on!

Blush look #1:
Skinny Face 😛 A.K.A Blush to Contour
Blush To ContourFor this look I use my blush kind of like a bronzer. I sweep the blush underneath my cheekbones to carve out that area of my face. I don’t always use bronzer but I always use blush so this technique works perfectly for me as I can add a bit of colour to my face while simultaneously slimming it down. Win win! It’s also the most subtle of the three blush looks, so it’s perfect for those who don’t like to use a lot of blush.

Blush look #2:
Sweet and Feminine
For this look I concentrate the placement of the blush on the apples of my cheeks before I sweep it up towards my temple. I use this technique when I want my overall makeup look to appear more sweet and feminine. Just be careful that you don’t apply too much blush on the apples of your cheeks, otherwise it may overpower your entire face.

Blush look #3:
Flushed and Cute

This look calls for blush everywhere 😀 Sounds crazy, I know, but trust me! You know how some people have a really nice flushed, healthy pink glow to their face? That’s where I got the idea for this look. Sweeping the blush along the outside of your forehead, underneath your cheekbones, on the apples of your cheeks, the tip of your nose and your chin, will give you a really cute flushed look. I wear my blush like this when a. I’m wearing a rose eye & lip and want to tie everything together or b. on days when I don’t wear a lot of makeup but still want my face to have a nice fresh pink glow 😀 You have to use a really light hand though, because it’s really easy to go from’ cute pink face,’ to ‘I’ve been sneezing so much my face is red’ haha.

For these looks, it’s best to use a matte blush with no shimmer.
