Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream for Dry Skin Review
Like many people, during the winter months my skin turns into the Sahara dessert. Dry, rough, unwilling to compromise you name it. Garnier’s Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream is one of the moisturizers that I keep in my winter skin care products rotation because it works…
I am very impressed with Garnier’s skin care products. The original version of this Moisture Rescue Gel for normal skin is fantastic, and so are their other moisturizers and serums. I discovered this gel during the winter of 2013 and I’ve been going back to it every winter since then.
According to the Garnier website this product:
Instantly locks in 24hr moisture and soothes dry skin.
Let Moisture Rescue with Antioxidant Fruit Water and moisture-loving ingredients come to your skin’s rescue! These oil-free lightweight formulas will help defend skin against external aggressors such as daily stress and pollution that can strip your skin of its vital hydration to look in 24 hr moisture.
Instantly skin feels fresher and looks smoother. Visible reduction in roughness caused by dryness. With continued use, moisture barrier is strengthened and skin looks healthier and feels softer.
I have very sensitive combination skin, but during the winter I get super dry patches around my mouth, eyes, nose and sometimes on my cheeks. The Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream for Dry Skin is fantastic because it doesn’t irritate my skin at all. That is, no breakouts, redness and/or stingy sensation. Plus, it completely hydrates the dry parched areas of my face without clogging my pores. It really is a ‘Moisture Rescue’ haha.
Since it’s a gel it feels very refreshing upon application, and it quickly absorbs into the skin. It feels a bit tacky for the first half hour but then it completely absorbs leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth. It doesn’t last for 24 hours though, I’d say it lasts for about 12 hours before it starts to wear off and I need to apply more or spritz my face with a face mist. 12 hours is a long time though haha and I usually take my makeup off before then and wash my face then reapply moisturizer, so the fact that it doesn’t last 24 hours is hardly a deal breaker for me.
The fragrance is strong with this one and although it smells really light and refreshing, almost like grapes and apples, those who don’t like heavily scented products might not like this.
The only complaint I have is that it comes in a jar. Packing wise it looks cute and delicate sitting on my vanity, but sanitary-wise I prefer a pump dispenser. I feel like I’d contaminate the entire jar if I used my finger to scoop up the gel so I always use a Q-tip instead which, not gonna lie, is a bit of a hassle haha. Also, if you have oily skin this might be too much for you.

– Comes in a jar
I once tried this during the summer when my skin was my normal combination skin (minus the dry areas) and it actually made my skin feel kind of oily. So it’s good for anyone with dry skin, but If you have oily skin this might be too much for you, and I’d recommend the ‘Normal’ version instead (which is also fantastic btw).
Yes! A huge thumbs up from me. Like I said this product makes a regular appearance in my winter skin care routine so if you’ve been looking for a moisturizer to help your dry skin then give this one a go 🙂
